Each year on Dec. 7, Pearl Harbor Survivors, veterans, and visitors from all over the world come together to honor and remember the 2,403 service members and civilians who were killed during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. An additional 1,178 people were injured in the attack, which permanently sank two U.S. Navy battleships (the USS Arizona and the USS Utah) and destroyed 188 aircraft.
On Aug. 23, 1994, the United States Congress designated Dec. 7 as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Every year, remembrance events are held at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, culminating in a commemoration ceremony on Dec. 7.

On Sunday, October 27, 2024, the Post 178 Color Guard had the honor of presenting the Nation’s Colors and Service Flags during the opening ceremonies of the 2024 Teddy Bear Ride hosted by the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County.
Each year motorcycle enthusiasts gather for one-of-a-kind fundraiser and awareness event where motorcycle riders make their way across Collin County to deliver their all-important passengers, new teddy bears! These precious stuffed animals will make their way into the arms of children who receive a forensic interview at the Center, providing comfort and hope as they begin their journey to healing.

National Day of the Deployed annually honors the United States military personnel deployed around the globe.
On October 26th, we honor all the brave military personnel who have been deployed, are sacrificing, or have sacrificed their lives to defend our country. It also acknowledges their families who are separated from them during deployment and the sacrifices they make in order for their family members to serve our country.
