GOLD STAR MOTHER’S AND FAMILY DAY is Sept 29

GOLD STAR MOTHER’S AND FAMILY DAY is Sept 29

A gold star symbolizes a family member who died in the line of duty while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Our military families will never forget their sons and daughters who were lost defending our great nation. On Gold Star Mother’s Day, American Legion Post 178 and the nation remembers alongside them. It’s an opportunity for us to pay tribute to their sacrifices and support those who remain behind.

Each year, on the last Sunday in September, Gold Star Mother’s and Family Day honors the mothers, fathers, and families of fallen military service members.

American Legion Post 178 pauses to remember and honor those Americans who were prisoners of war and those who served and never returned home. Many families still wait for their loved ones who went to war defending our great nation and never came back. As a continuing mission the United States Department of Defense’s POW/MIA Accounting Agency continues the search for the missing, fulfilling the nation’s promise to leave no service member behind.
