May 15, 2015 – Trip to Bonham Vets Home
John Allen, Delbert Parsons, Ron Bircher, Paul Jones, Stan Archer, and Len Kahle went to Bonham, Texas to visit the Texas State Home for Veterans. We went to do a cookout for the Veterans & staff of the Veterans Home. This week was chosen because It was National Appreciation Week for Care Givers, & our cooking out gave their staff a break & showed our appreciation for the job they do everyday in support of our Veterans. We got a lot of thank yous from the staff & the Veterans.
They had 2 grills & we grilled hot dogs on one & hamburgers on the other. We started cooking at 10:00AM and finished at noon. We fed approximately two hundred people. We then went around & socialized with the Veterans. This was our 3rd visit to the Veterans Home & each time we go, we always commit to coming back because we get more out of the visit than we give.
