Commander’s Welcome
Welcome to Frisco’s American Legion Post 178!
This Post is named after our Fallen Brother Peter J Courcy, who gave the ultimate sacrifice in 2009, during Operation Enduring Freedom when an improvised explosive device exploded near his vehicle in Salerno, Afghanistan. Peter was a member of the elite 101st Airborne Division, and earned numerous awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Air Assault Badge; Parachutist Badge and Weapons Qualification, M4, expert. It is in honor of Peter’s sacrifice, and for those of our Brothers and Sisters like him, that we, members of Post 178, serve our fellow Veterans and our Frisco Community at large.
Not only do we commemorate Veterans Day with a ceremonial service and lead the Community/Veterans Day Parade, but we have amazing initiatives aimed at teaching Youth in our community American Civics education through Boys State and Oratorical programs. We have an impressive Color Guard and Honor Guard who proudly present America’s Colors at various events and military funerals. And we participate in the Wreaths Across American program, laying wreaths at every headstone of those who have been laid to rest at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
We are a diverse family of Veterans who look after one another, and fellowship with one another. Our goals are simple: we leave none of our Veterans behind, and we continue to proudly serve our Nation within our local community. I am honored to lead this Post of unassuming heroes and welcome all Veterans looking for a home and a purpose to come join us.
