Wreaths Across America 1

National Wreaths Across America is an event in December each year dedicated to remembering the sacrifices veterans have made in wars since the American Revolution. Wreaths Across America (WAA) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit charitable organization.  Post 178 WAA coordinates the recruiting of volunteers to assist in distributing and laying wreaths on each grave at D/FW National Cemetery.

2020 Wreaths Across America activities at the DFW National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75236, have been finalized.

Please consider donating wreaths.  You can donate until December 3rd.  One wreath can be purchased for $15.00.  When two wreaths are purchased for $30.00, the DFW National Cemetery will receive a third one free. Purchase online at Chris and Mary Bush’s fundraising website at: HonorDFW.com.

On Wednesday, December 16, 2020, trucks with the cases of wreaths will arrive early morning.  Distribution of the cases of wreaths will begin at 8:30 A.M. and end at noon.  Please let me know at lgmarshall24@gmail.com by December 1 if you will be able to assist with the distribution of the cases of wreaths.  We will meet at the Walmart (FM 423 & Stonebrook Blvd. in Frisco) on Wednesday, December 16th at 7:15 A.M. to depart at 7:30A.M. to the DFW National Cemetery.  Fred Rogers will be coordinating the carpooling to DFW National Cemetery.

They will not have a Wreaths Across America Ceremony this year.  The 2020 Wreaths Across America wreath laying event will occur on three dates.  Families that have a family member laid to rest at the DFW National Cemetery will be allow the lay their family member’s wreath on December 16th and 17th from 1:00PM to 5:00PM.  For the general public, wreath laying at the DFW National Cemetery will be held on December 19, 2020 at 11:00 AM.  We hope to raise 46,400 wreaths for the 2020 WAA event.  Thank you for your support!!!

On Saturday, January 16, 2021, wreaths will be removed from the gravesites, placed in trucks and trailers, and returned to a large dumpster for future disposal.

The Motto of Wreaths Across America (WAA) is REMEMBER, HONOR, and TEACH. REMEMBER our veterans that served and are serving America, HONOR the fallen veterans, and TEACH our youth about the service and sacrifice of our veterans and families.

Post 178’s namesake, Peter J Courcy, is laid to rest at D/FW National Cemetery and we gather near his gravesite each year to remember his and his family’s sacrifice for our freedom.
