On Friday, December 13, 2019, members of The American Legion, Frisco Post 178 assisted in distributing approximately 43,400 wreaths to the burial sites at DFW National Cemetery.

Dec 2, 2019 – Frisco Lakes Texas Boys and Girls State

The Frisco Lakes Veterans Group presented a program to members and residents of Frisco Lakes on their 2019 accomplishments. One of their proudest accomplishments was the support of both Texas Boys State and Bluebonnet Girls State; they invited two 2019 delegates to share their story on what attending the program meant to them. Karlene Stelling, Reedy High School, epresented Girls State and Preston Cook, Legacy Christian High School, represented Boy State.

Every year the Frisco American Legion, Peter J. Courcy Post, 178 and Auxiliary Unit 178 coordinate, organize, and raise funds for students from Frisco area High Schools to attend these events.

Post 178 Color Guard members Terry Gilbert, Ted Ruybal, Larry Marshall, Thor Anderson and Fred Rogers flank JP Morgan Chase Bank representative Mylinda Roth during flag raising ceremonies honor the memory of 911. This is the third year that Post 178 conducted the flag raising for this event. JP Morgan Chase Bank is a stout supporter of Veterans and Americanism in general

Feb 12 – Sept 3, 2019 – Boys State Delegates

Mayor Cheney and the Frisco City Council recognized the 2019 Boy State Delegates on September 3, 2019 by reading a Proclamation to them in their honor. The 25 young men represented the City of Frisco, Frisco Independent School District and the American Legion extremely well.

A group of college students, lead by Alex Quian, devoted their summer to providing 30 different community projects throughout North Texas within 30 days. One of their projects was providing a complementary dinner to members of Post 178 on July 18, 2019.

State 2019 Oratorical Finals Held in Frisco

The four finalists in this year’s Texas Oratorical competition are; Paige Shaneck, Post 53, Dallas, 1st Division winner; Victoria Permann, Post 240, Stevenville, 4th Division winner; Tanner David, Post 115, Belleville, 3rd Division winner and Rajveer Kindra, Post 324, Houston, 2nd Division winner.
