Legislative and Voter Registration

Legislative and Voter Registration Banner

The American Legion establishes a legislative agenda at the national and state levels. The committee monitors the status of legislation that is part of the national agenda and encourages members to contact their representatives in Congress to urge the Legion position. Similar work is done at the state level based on the legislative agenda developed by the Department Legislative Committee. Additionally, shortly after the start of each Texas Legislature session, a group of Legion members from around the state spend a day visiting their State Representatives and Senators in Austin to talk about the state agenda.

The ‘Get Out the Vote’ effort conducts voter registration events throughout Frisco in advance of elections. Members become Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrars in Collin and Denton counties. They can then register voters during these events.
