The Patriots Donation Program

“Post 178 Patriots” is our new membership and fundraising program focusing on our key programs of Boys State, Oratorical, Color/Honor Guard, The Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, and Navy JROTC. You decide where your contributions will be directed.

Contribution Levels

Partner $10 monthly or $120 annually                 Warrior $15 monthly or $180 annually
Hero      $25 monthly or $300 annually                Patriot $50 monthly or $600 annually

Donors may contribute to more than one program and any combination that equals
$25/month or $300/year qualifies for Hero level. $50/month or $600/year qualifies for Patriot level.

All members who participate in the “Post 178 Patriots” program will be recognized with a certificate of appreciation, recognition in
our Newsletter and a lapel/hat pin. All “Patriot” level members will also receive an American Legion cap (item # 708.170).

* If you are a member of American Legion, Peter J Courcy Post 178, the first $60 of your donation will go to the General Fund to pay National and Post dues. The remaining balance goes to the specified program(s).

Advantages

Annual dues are included and are tax deductible. Check with your tax advisor about your deduction. As long as your contributions remain at the Hero or Patriot levels you will never need to worry about membership renewals.

Additional Patriots Information

Texas Boys State

Texas Boys State is a week-long educational program for high school juniors that takes place at the University of Texas in Austin. The program is run by the American Legion and has been in operation since 1935. It’s designed to teach students about the rights, responsibilities, and duties of citizens by having them participate in the operation of local, county, and state governments. Students are elected to various offices and run the governments themselves. The program also includes campaign supplies for students to use in their general election campaigns.

 Oratorical Scholarship

An academic speaking challenge for high school students, 9th-12th grade, to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the U.S. Constitution.

The Peter J Courcy Post 178 American Legion awards four $500 scholarships each year.

Color/Honor Guard

The Color Guard presents the Colors at community events and post functions in Frisco and surrounding areas. The Honor Guard performs funeral/memorial services for area veterans and members of Post 178 upon request.

The Peter J Courcy Post 178 has a goal of raising $1,000 for the purchase of uniforms, flags and other equipment to perform the duties of presenting the Colors and performing funeral/ memorial services.

The Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham

Your contributions will help provide necessary and vitally needed personal hygiene items, personal items and recreational equipment to the 160 plus Veterans that are residences of the Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, Texas. Each year, our Post also hosts a Holiday party for the residences.

Navy JROTC

The NJROTC mission is to instill in students in United States secondary educational institutions the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.

The Peter J Courcy Post 178 American Legion has a goal of raising $1000 to assist the NJROTC in educational materials.

General Fund 

Donate to Post 178’s general fund and the funds will be used where needed most. Select an amount or add a custom amount to donate.

All your donations – minus the credit card processing fee – go to the programs. Post 178 is a 501(c)(19) and your donations are deductible as charitable contributions.
